Recent highlights of the Booster Innovation Fund (BIF) and Private Land and Property Fund (PLPF).
For quarter 31 December 2025.
The Booster Innovation Fund (BIF) has landed another front row seat to cutting edge research originating from New Zealand universities. Auckland UniServices at the University of Auckland has joined Booster in a strategic partnership, providing an exciting pipeline of opportunities we will assess throughout 2026 and beyond.
BIF companies growing international reach:
- BioLumic extends its light-activated seed technology to South America to support corn crop production yields in the region.
- Calocurb expects its new US partnership with Ortho Molecular to double its business revenue with manufacturing capacity set to double to 15 million capsules in the next year.
- Tectrax partners with SBS Trailers in the UK and ZeroJet partners with Pochon in France increasing its access to European markets. Tectrax and ZeroJet merged to form Wave Propulsion in 2024.
- Wych partners with LoanOptions.ai to support its 1,500 broker partners in Australia. This will significantly increase Wych’s visibility and data-call and transaction volume in Australian credit banking.
Companies BIF invests in sweep up awards
Winning awards are a great opportunity to highlight – and give more profile – to companies’ ground-breaking technology and innovation:
- GoodAir got Gold at the Designers Institute of New Zealand’s 2025 Best Awards
- Cleanery took out the Excellence in Innovation award at the New Zealand International Business Awards
- Allegro won Financial Review Energy Awards’ Innovation challenger

Independent valuations see small lift in value for two Private Land and Property Fund (PLPF) vineyards
Amid challenges in the wine sector with the current oversupply of grapes, there has been a small lift in value for two vineyards in Marlborough and Hawkes Bay.
- Viticulture: While challenges in the viticulture sector include a current oversupply of grapes and a backdrop of continued pressure on discretionary spending and cost of living, the sector is working to rebalance supply and demand and manage operational costs. Higher than normal inventory levels and subdued export demand are factors expected to weigh down on viticulture property value growth.
- Horticulture: The horticulture sector has been experiencing strong sales growth, particularly in the Bay of Plenty and Marlborough. Kiwifruit continues to drive a lot of the ongoing growth and while there has been low activity in avocado property sales recently, Rabobank’s latest outlook says global demand for avocados is growing.
- Dairy: Despite lower prices in the last several Global Dairy Trade auctions, the dairy sector is still performing strongly. During December, Fonterra revised its forecast midpoint milk price down twice, originally from $10 per kgMS to $9.50 per kgMS and then further to $9 per kgMS. This has been driven by strong milk flows in New Zealand and globally, particularly out of the US and Europe.
